Hallmark Movie Review: Marry Me in Yosemite

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Another movie that’s just okay. It’s missing the IT factor to make it amazing. Here’s a quick recap and my full two cents. 😉

Quick Recap

Zoe is given an assignment to take photos and make a book focused on Yosemite. When she arrives, she needs a guide. Eventually she convinces Jack the naturalist to help her find the right shots for her assignment.

My Two Cents

I had a crazy busy day today. We saw DC League of Super-Pets, taught my daughter how to ride a bike without training wheels, walked the dogs, and did some shopping. By the time it came to watch this movie, I was already feeling exhausted and this movie almost put me to sleep. Jeff promised to watch it with me, but he went to bed before it was over! 😡

There were some cute/funny parts and some parts I really enjoyed for the scenery, but overall I struggled to stay tuned into the movie. I found it more interesting to Google some of the things they were talking about – John Muir, Half Dome, the Ahwahnechee, etc.

In case you didn’t know, I’m a total Twihard (Twilight lover). Jacob’s Native American roots have always interested me. At one point, one of the Cullens talks about the long memory of the Native Americans because they pass down stories (like the Cullens being Vampires) from generation to generation. I enjoyed the part of this movie that talks about the Ahwahnechee Native American history related to Yosemite and the story of Half Dome.

I also liked Zoe bringing the Native American history into her book and Zach writing for her book. It was a nice way to bring the movie together. But I didn’t care for the climax a whole lot. It seemed like they made some drama just to make drama. It didn’t feel in line with the characters.

There were a few other things that bothered me tonight more than normal. One of those things was camping before climbing to Half Dome. I don’t camp much, but did wine while camping seem odd to anyone else? Also, I totally wouldn’t have slept by myself after hearing those coyotes and a city girl like Zoe probably wouldn’t have either. Two hugs don’t make up for the sound of nearby coyotes!

There will be a fair amount of people who enjoy this movie, because it’s simple and good. But compared to the new releases last month, this one was lacking. The best part about this movie was the 1 year epilogue! I’d really like to see these on more of the movies!

Hallmark Movie Review: Warming Up to You

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Warming Up to You warmed me up this evening! But we’ll get to that later. Haha. I’ll definitely watch this super sweet romance again in the future. Here’s a quick recap and my full two cents. 😉

Quick Re-Cap

Kate is fired for being too passionate about her job as a personal trainer. She returns to her hometown to be a personal trainer for her friend’s wellness resort and spa. While there, she takes a job training movie star Rick Steele.

My Two Cents

This semi-enemies to lovers romance is super sweet and full of “awww…” moments and a few giggles. Some people might find it a little dull if they’re looking for suspense, drama, or originality. But in general, I think it’ll please most people looking for a Hallmark happily ever after.

I’m going to be up front and say I’m probably a little biased in reviewing this movie. I have a little (big) crush on Christopher Russel. And I love the Christopher Russell + Cindy Busby pairing! I’ve seen them together in Chasing Waterfalls, Love in the Forecast, and A Puppy for Christmas. All cute movies! I hope this pairing continues! They’re super cute together!

Kudos to Hallmark for not making Christopher gain and lose the extra weight for this role. However, the fat suit and baggy clothes weren’t really believable. I could still see Christopher’s strong looking chest, arms, etc. I mean, I might have been staring at them a little more than a normal person, but it’s CHRISTOPHER RUSSELL! He’s up there with Ryan Paevey on my hotness meter. And in one of the last scenes, he’s wearing sweatpants. SWEATPANTS…while running! Is it getting hot in here? Or is it just me? Whew.

Okay, reeling it back in just a little. I loved the supporting cast! The lady (Minnie?) who has a crush on Rick and Sasha crushing on Jared were awesome! I really enjoyed their side lines.

There was so much I enjoyed about this movie, that I will enjoy watching it again in the future. It’ll be like Love on the Sidelines. There are enough laughs and sweet moments to give you the feels and keep you engaged. Give this one a try!

Hallmark Movie Review: Hearts Down Under

Image via: https://www.hallmarkchannel.com/hearts-down-under

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

I’ve watched this movie 3 times. All 3 times I get side tracked and find something better to do. And by better I mean, laundry, dishes, pet my friend Rem, etc. Anyhow, I’ve finally managed to watch the whole movie, but I’m left underwhelmed. Here’s a quick re-cap and my full two cents 🙂 Enjoy!

Movie Re-cap

Caroline’s Aunt dies and leaves her a restaurant in Australia. She travels to Australia and meets Cook (Simon Cook). Caroline has her own restaurant in New York, so she wants to fix up the Australia restaurant and sell it, but she ends up enjoying spending time with Cook. After the restaurant is fixed up, she needs to make the decision to sell or not to sell 🙂

My Two Cents

I feel like there have been a lot of chef movies in the past few months. There’s been Mix Up in the Mediterranean and Right in Front of Me recently. If I stretch, then As Luck Would Have It kind of counts, because he made liquor and there were cooking lessons. Maybe more? I’m not sure, but I think I’m a little tired of chefs.

One thing I’m not tired of though? Hot accents! I can listen to Tim Ross (Cook) talk all day. It didn’t hurt that he also had a rare half naked moment with no shirt! Woot Woot!

Spatch, Caroline’s Aunt’s dog, should definitely receive an award for his role. He was super adorable! Honestly, he stole most of the movie. I really liked Caroline’s insta-bond with him. I often wonder if dogs can smell family members. Like do we all have a similar scent? It makes me think of Vampires vs. Werewolves 😉

Sorry, back on track…

I don’t know y’all. There really wasn’t much else worth mentioning. I enjoyed all the beach shots and wish I could walk along the beach or go fishing.

Overall

This movie was cute and funny at parts – I’m totally going to steal the, “I have to go wash my cat” after looking at my imaginary watch line sometime – but overall it was lacking that IT factor. There were too many parts where I found myself bored.

I think you should watch it and let me know what you think? Am I having a crabby/off day? Should I try it again in a few weeks and see if I like it more? Leave a comment and let me know! Happy movie watching y’all!

Hallmark Movie Review: Chasing Waterfalls

Image via: https://www.hallmarkchannel.com/chasing-waterfalls

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hallmark had me at “Don’t go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re use to…” One of my favorite 90’s songs! And yes, I did sing it EVERY SINGLE TIME the commercial came on. Jeff kept looking at me a little strangely, but that isn’t really different than normal. I give him lots of reasons to look at me strangely. 😉

Back to the movie Jamie.

Lets do a quick re-cap, then I’ll share my two cents on this corny cute movie.

Amy Atwater (hehe I giggled at the last name…Atwater…waterfalls – corny cuteness #1) is a photographer who primarily photographs people, but an opportunity comes up at work to take photographs of mystical waterfalls. Amy seizes the opportunity.

While trying to find her first waterfall, Amy befriends Mark North (who happens to have a great sense of direction – more corny cuteness) and his daughter Kyra. Amy asks them for directions while trying to figure out how return back to the lodge, but she winds up back at the waterfall.

Amy’s sense of direction isn’t the best. So, she asks Mark for his help locating the mystical/unicorn waterfalls. Mark eventually concedes, and him and Kyria take Amy around to the different waterfalls for her the magazine article.

OMG! Have I told you before that I love corny romcoms?? Corny jokes, corny names, and overall corny cuteness (is that a thing? Eh, it is now). I love it all!

I’m not alone in my corny attraction. As it turns out, Jeff likes corny romcoms too. Yup, he sat here laughing along with me. And yup, I took his man card. 🙂 Oh wait, did I just date myself? Are man cards still a thing? You’ll have to let me know.

Anyhow, this movie is super cute! Amy is such a sweet woman. Definitely directionally challenged, but kind hearted and funny too. In the very beginning of the movie, Amy takes a photo of an old man and his dog. Later she gives him the print of the picture at no charge. Awww…super sweet of her. Later in the movie, she helps Kyra with a boy she likes. It’s just in her to be nice.

I found myself wanting her to end up with a guy like Mark, who is also super sweet and corny. I loved his “Dad jokes,” and his daughter’s reaction to them. He was the perfect compliment to her.

Overall, this movie wasn’t unique or unpredictable, but it was all sorts of corny cute and adorable. Even Jeff gave it 👍 👍.

BONUS…halfway through the movie I found myself thinking, I’ve seen these two together before. A short google trip later and I found it! Love In the Forecast. Also a super cute movie! They can keep pairing these two together all day.

I hope you give this movie (and Love in the Forecast) a try if corny romcoms are your thing. They definitely are mine. Happy movie watching y’all!
