Book Review: Midnight Sun

Midnight Sun (Twilight, #1.5)Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Bella’s version is better

I’ve wanted this book since it was a short story on Stephenie’s website. I LOVE Twilight. It’s a 5 star book. Mostly because Bella is hilarious. I love her wittiness.

Edward...**sigh** Edward is very self-loathing and sometimes annoying. I liked how this book explained things I had always wondered about and it really helps explain New Moon and other books. I found Edwards communication with the rest of his family interesting. They really don’t ask him questions out loud very often. They mostly talk through his mind reading. That was kind of eye opening and neat. I also liked the comparisons reading Bella’s parents minds. It makes me wonder what kind of immortals they would make. I bet Bella’s mom would be able to control people with her desires/will. I wonder if Charlie would also become some sort of shield.

I would still be interested in seeing other chapters of Edward from other books, but I don’t know if I could re-read the rest of the series from Edward’s POV.

It took me about 3 weeks to read this book, which is really sad. It should have only taken me a few days. But it just wasn’t that interesting. I couldn’t stay involved. Maybe that was because I already knew what was going to happen? I’m not sure. To this day I can pick up Twilight and read it anytime. My paperback copy is well loved.

I wish I could give this book more stars, but I just can’t. Twilight is still one of my favorite series and Stephenie did a very good job writing this from Edward’s perspective. Edward is really just not as funny or interesting as Bella. I hope you all read this and enjoy it. Happy reading y’all!!
