Hallmark Movie Review: Mystic Christmas

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s the second week of Christmas movies! Yay! I’ve entered a Hallmark movie bracket again. So, I’ll be making sure to write reviews more often. Otherwise I’ll be in big trouble when it’s time to vote. Haha!

Anyhow, I have a thing for second chance and small town romances. Add two awkward people, some wildlife, and lots of corny jokes and I’m set for the next 2 hours. Mystic Christmas won’t make my favorite list for the season, but it’s a solid movie. Here’s a quick recap and my two cents 😉

Quick Recap

Juniper visits Mystic, Connecticut to help take care of Peppermint the seal for a local aquatic rehabilitation center. While there she reconnects with Sawyer and enjoys helping with the small town holiday traditions.

My Two Cents

Jessy Schram is one of my favorite Hallmark actresses! She had me crying in Time for Them to Come Home for Christmas and laughing in Harvest Moon. I think Harvest Moon might be my favorite movie of hers, but I loved her paired with Chandler Massey in Mystic Christmas.

Jessy in RomCom roles is my favorite version of her. She shines as Juniper – the awkward introverted seal lady 😉 She even mentioned her anxious mind causing mean thoughts. Loved that! We need to normalize mental health like that! Beyond anything, I loved how she connected with Lou and helped her embrace the things she loves.

Her other half, Chandler was equally endearing as Sawyer – the fanny pack wearing town helper and all around nice guy. I actually liked when he called out the awkward moments. “It’s a date plan!”

Totally derailing this conversation…did anyone else Google The Donkey Song?? No? Just me? Here it is! You’re welcome 🙂 Fair warning, it’s It’s a Small World in the way it becomes stuck in your brain and refused to leave.

Now that you’re back from The Donkey Song silliness…

This is the type of cozy/comfy Hallmark Christmas movie that will appeal to many. It’s sweet romcom moments are there to ensure the movie isn’t too heavy and the plot line is solid. Give this movie a try!

  1. Dominic the Donkey is one of our family favorites! I was so excited when she mentioned it. It was a really cute movie, and so far one of my faves.
