Hallmark Movie Review: Romance in Style

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s like Devil Meets Prada meets Dirty Dancing with a Cinderella ending! I could almost hear Derek say, “Nobody puts Baby in the corner,” as he stands up for Ella’s vision and made her dreams come true. I loved every minute! Here’s a quick recap and my two cents. 😉

Quick Recap

Ella is an aspiring designer who is helping her friend Katie at the magazine The Look when Derek comes to help improve readership. Derek’s family owns the publishing company for The Look, but he doesn’t know much about fashion. He enlists Ella to teach him about fashion, so he can earn the respect of the employees.

My Two Cents

Yes Hallmark! I love this movie!! I love the fresh new faces, the plot, and all the body positivity talk! Honest, amazing women (and men) in all shapes, sizes, and colors should be able to do anything they want! We need more movies like this!

Quick shout out to Jaicy Elliot! I loved her portraying Ella! She’s such an amazing character. She’s beautiful, strong, and honest. I loved her standing up for all the women who deserve to feel as beautiful as they are in clothes that fit and flatter them.

Speaking of fit and flattering clothes. Did you see Benjamin Hollingsworth in all those suits?? Is it hot in here or is it me? I’m a little young for hot flashes, but there is something about a man in a suit. **fanning myself** I’d watch Benjamin Hollingsworth walk around in a suit all day!

I could also talk about this movie all day! There were so many wonderful moments! Ella showing Derek silk was so hot. Derek saving Ella from the bicyclist gave me wonderful feels. And Derek telling Ella she’s “everything.” was legitimately every girls dream. Plus so much more!

Then there was the ending…perfection! The father/son moment brought me to tears. And the photo shoot gave me all the feels. Serious perfection guys. Even Jeff enjoyed the movie! It’ll be on my top Hallmark movies list for sure!

  1. Definitely a good movie with an even better message that more people need to hear. Instead of tearing others down they pushed each other up through the whole movie and I enjoyed it.

  2. I loved the clothes Ella wore in the movie. I wish I could shop for them.

  3. Loved it! Hallmark is finally getting it together. A movie thta held my attention rather than putting me to sleep. Thanks,

  4. 5 Star 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I Absolutely loved it and hope to see many more…

  5. I LOVED THIS MOVIE!! It hit all the feels and Benjamin (so hot) couldn’t have been a better Derek. Jaicey was crazy good!!
    I need to know….
WHERE CAN I BUY THE CLOTHES SHE WORE FOR HER ROLE?!?!

  6. Yes I watched the movie. I really liked it. The plot and some new faces. Like said in the movie not every woman is a size 2. I would love to see Jaicy Elliot a lot more. Please keep her and Benjamin Hollingsworth. Hallmark movies were becoming the same old thing. I do love my murder mystery series. Wish they would start up again.

  7. The premise was good but the minute I heard the reference to a seamstress called a “sew-er” I couldn’t help but just chalk it up to more bad grammar used by the Hallmark writers. I’m delighted we’re in August and we can finally see something new besides tired Christmas movies, but PLEASE send your writers for a short course on grammar and industry lingo!!

  8. Best Hallmark movie in a while! The chemistry between the two lead actors was on point! Great seeing a confident lead actress with lines to match! And we didn’t have to wait to the end for the first kiss!!!! Way to go Hallmark!

  9. Loved the movie! Hated the Hallmark Movie poster however because they “slimmed down” the actress for the print. The message in the movie was great but the print ad showed the bias still for plus sized women.
