Fairly Good Book

Wow! This is a long review for me!

This book starts out really strong!! Love the opening few chapters. Unfortunately, it went down hill after that and the opening scene magic somewhat sizzles by the end.

Quick re-cap:

Aimee is a caterer in New York. She is a little down on her luck, but she is offered an opportunity to cater a big luncheon. Unfortunately, the guy she’s working with fails to tell her that she can’t wear any perfume on the job.

When she arrives, she’s told about the perfume issue and she needs to take a show in the CEOs (Noel’s) office. After her shower, Noel unexpectedly barges in and she slips into his arms.

Aimee borrows some ill fitting clothes from an employee and caters the rest of the lunch. At the end, Byron (the executive admin), gives her a post it with Noel’s phone number and a message to call. The post it was originally planned for one of the important people in the meeting, but Byron isn’t good with details.

Aimee starts texting Noel thinking she’s texting Byron. Noel pretends to be Byron and learns more about Aimee and starts to develop feelings for her.

My Two Cents:

The meet cute in the beginning of the book is super cute and funny!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Unfortunately, the book kind of loses me after that.

I love accents and hot men, but I don’t love Noel. Noel whines and complains about not having time for a relationship, but he keeps leading Aimee on. He lies to Aimee about a few things in order to maintain his first lie that he’s Byron. He also doesn’t tell anyone at his office that Byron is his brother.

I don’t like liars. Noel lying about being Byron is only the first lie to Aimee and I was put off by this behavior.

Aimee was funny and creative, but stubborn and pig headed. In the end of the book, she finds out about the lie and she turns it into a much bigger deal than most adults I know would have.

I know I said I didn’t like Noel’s lying, but Aimee’s over reaction was a bit intense.

Beyond Aimee and Noel’s personality issues, I was upset about the lack of sex scenes. It normally doesn’t bother me, but I think that since I already had issues with the characters, then I wanted some good sex scenes.

There were also a few places in the book where 3 weeks or more go missing. One really upset me. I wanted the details of what happened! And how do Aimee and Noel go so long without making up if they’re in love??

Overall, there were some good solid RomCom moments that will have you laughing out loud. I loved the intro and several other scenes in the book, but I didn’t love the characters. I won’t be actively seeking other books in this series. You might enjoy this book more if you connect better with the characters. Happy reading y’all!!
