Too long

Ugh! I want to LOVE this book, but it’s really just okay. It’s like Stephanie Meyer meets CN Crawford. Unfortunately, unlike them, Erica Woods spends too much time repeating the same internal dialogue repeatedly.

In this book, Hope and the pack go to the Assembly and compete in games. We still don’t find out what Hope is, but we glimpse a few clues. We find out more about Ash and Lucien 😉 and we find out more of Hope’s story.

The sex scenes are easily ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! So, if you’re reading this for that, then YES! Go for it! If multiple males for one female are also your thing, then YES AGAIN! Haha, if that’s not your thing, then this definitely isn’t for you.

Hmmm…I’m not sure if I recommend starting this series, but now that I’ve started, I need to finish and find out Hope’s secrets. You might get sucked in if you start it too. Happy reading y’all!

So hot!!

Oh wow! I have a thing for the paranormal and shifter claiming. There’s something so hot about it! Mates 😍

Quick Re-cap:

Hope was tortured the majority of her life and escapes her tormentors. While running away, she runs into a pack of shifters, but knows nothing about who or what they are. She doesn’t even know much about herself other than she has a monster inside her. She starts to develops feelings for the shifters and a mated romance is born.

My Two Cents:

I really enjoyed most of this book! The intimate scenes (no sex quite yet, but there will be) were really HOT! Like grab your vibrator (or other nearest relief) hot!

I struggled with so much inner dialogue. There was too much. I can only listen to so much self doubt before I start skipping major portions!

Besides the self doubt, you have to be okay with what happened to Hope to read this book. She was surrendered by her mother to the Hunters when she was 6 years old. They started torturing her when she was an early teenager. This wasn’t just verbal abuse. It was the kind of torturing that involves stripping skin and pulling out organs while she’s awake. If you’re a parent, or deeply sensitive person, then this isn’t the right series for you.

I’m going to continue reading this series, because now I feel like I have to know how it ends. I want to know what Hope is, because she obviously isn’t Human. This might be worth the read if you can handle the inner monologues and handle the abusive situation Hope was in. Happy reading y’all!

Midlife Ghost Hunter by Shannon Mayer
Hot, steamy, and not finished yet

I have lost so much sleep to reading this series! It’s hot, sexy (without actual sex), and I can’t put it down!

Breena is arrested for Alan’s murder. She must escape prosecution and head to New Orleans to save her Gran. She must decide who are true friends and who aren’t. If she decides wrong, she might be facing her death. If she decides right, maybe she will create her own family and find love.

I’m constantly amazed at how hot and bothered this book can make someone without there being actual sex. Congrats to the author for that! In fact, congrats to the author for allowing me to feel every emotion Breena feels. I cried when she cried, worried when she worried, and laughed when she laughed.

There isn’t a dull moment here. I couldn’t put it down. I stayed up late, woke up early, and read every second I could. I can’t wait to read the final book in the series! I really hope Breena and Crash wind up together.

This book has so many funny moments! My husband often asked me what I was laughing at. I love that Breena is a little older than me and I can totally relate to her accidentally almost peeing every other minute. When I feel a sneeze coming I run for the toilet, hoping I make it before I actually sneeze. It’s a real thing folks.

This is a must read story for anyone who enjoys fantasy romcoms. I hope you give it a try! Happy reading y’all!!

The excitement keeps coming!

Set aside some serious binge reading time for this series. It sucks you in and won’t let you go!

A very quick overview:

Bree accepts a job with a goblin. Bree meets with the council and befriends an old man who they keep around, but don’t think much of. Bree and Crash get closer. The King of the goblins steals her friends and Bree needs to get them back.

There is action to the very last word. I really couldn’t put this one down. The only downside are all the characters. There are so many that sometimes I forget who is who.

I absolutely love how this author writes from Bree’s point of view. It’s like Bree is telling us this story as she’s living it. It’s more intense than a normal first person narrative. I feel what Bree is feeling. When her heart soars, mine is right there with her. And when she nearly has her heart broken, I want to go drown my sorrows in whiskey along with her.

This is a fantastic series! Seriously dedicate some time to it. Happy reading y’all!!

BETTER THAN THE FIRST!/strong>

Wow wow wow! OMG – I’m going to combust from all the sexual tension between Crash and Breena!

I thought book 1 was really good, but this was even better. It had that can’t eat, can’t sleep, IT factor and I couldn’t put it down!

Quick overview: Crash buys Breena’s grandma’s house and asks her to move in to keep Feish company while he does a job. Breena accepts a job from a Fae Queen and forms her own version of the Hollows with her friends. She also stands up to a few foes and discovers a little bit about her own family lineage.

Really this is a MUST READ series. I hope the next book continues to improve on the really good foundation the first 2 books have provided. I need to stop writing so I can start reading the next book. Happy reading y’all!!

40 and kicking ass

Nice fantasy/sci-fi adventure book! I’m looking forward to reading more in this series!

Breena is a 40+ year old recently divorced woman who returns to her hometown of Savannah to get back to her roots. Her ex has stolen her grandmother’s house and she is trying to earn money to buy it back.

I really liked how Breena is starting to gain confidence and own herself in this first book. I love when she cops an attitude and kicks ass.

I’m nearing 40 and totally get all the body aches and pains that you don’t have at 20. I can also sympathize with a lot of Breena’s thoughts about the younger kids.

Even with all this good there were a few things that annoyed me. I didn’t like how Breena kept referring to her ex as Himself. I wish she would have used a different nickname or explained it a lot earlier in the book. Also, I got really tired of heard how old and out of shape she is. She did too. Lol.

Overall, this is a solid book and I’m looking forward to continuing with this series. If you’re looking for this type of book you might enjoy it. It’s worth the try. Happy reading y’all!!

Book Review: The Promise of Hades

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yes yes yes!!

This whole series is phenomenal! I think I’m going to continue to read these books until I’m sick of Greek mythology. Haha.

In this book, Persephone faces her final trials. Her brother Sam comes from the mortal world to Olympus with her. Persephone and Hades discover who is after her and what their end game is and we find out who will be Hades’ new bride.

Everything about this book was done so well. We even got to see Buddy come back for one final scene. The writer(s) did a great job of bringing everything together and tying up most loose ends, but allowing room for spin offs and sequels.

If you enjoy Greek mythology, you should be reading this series! These are quick reads that you won’t be able to put down. Happy reading y’all!!

Book Review: The Passion of Hades

The Passion of Hades by Eliza Raine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It keeps getting better!!

Wow! This series has me hooked! I can’t wait to start the next book!

Persy moves onto round two of the trials and regains some of her previous power. In this book she faces some scary sea monsters and endurance tests. She also starts regaining her bond with Hades. Yay!!

There was more sex related scenes in this book than the last. I have no doubt that if this book continues on its current path, there will be some sex scenes in our future.

There is so much action, adventure, romance, and mystery in this book that it’s very difficult to put down! Luckily, it’s also short, so you won’t be lacking sleep for too long while you stay up reading it. 😂

Give this series a try if Greek mythology is your thing. This is definitely worth it! Happy reading y’all!!

The Power of Hades by Eliza Raine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yes Yes Yes!! This a great quick read fantasy book! I’ve already moved onto the second book before writing this, because I couldn’t take the time to stop and review this one. I had to start reading the next one now!

Knowing a little Greek mythology might help you in this book, but it’s not necessary, because Persephone (the leading female) doesn’t remember her own history. So, we’re all learning the history together.

In this book, Persephone (Persy), is a human living a normal life in New York, when she’s abducted by Zeus and taken to the Underworld. There, she’s forced to compete to be Hades bride. However, she quickly finds out she was previously a powerful and feared goddess who was married to Hades. In order to live, she must compete in the trials against gods and demigods who all have powers, while she’s still a human.

There’s a fair amount of grammar mistakes throughout this book, but there aren’t enough to detract from the overall book. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book with this many though, so I feel like it’s worth mentioning in case you’re put off by that.

There aren’t any sex scenes, but there are a few scenes that start to look like they’re heading in that direction. Maybe in some future books there will be some? It doesn’t really need them, the plot and writing is great on it’s own.

Overall, this is a fantastic book! Kudos to the authors! If you’re a fantasy reader, definitely consider adding this to your must read list. Happy reading y’all!

Book Review: Thirst 5 The Sacred Veil

Thirst No. 5: The Sacred VeilThirst No. 5: The Sacred Veil by Christopher Pike

I want more, more, more!

Sita has had my heart since I met her. Her spunk, wit, and most importantly, her love, empathy, and compassion makes for the perfect lead character. If you haven’t started this series yet, you should!

In this book, Sita must confront someone who she fought against in the past, but barely got away from. Unfortunately, she blocked her memories from the past event and must unlock them to confront the evils she’s facing now.

I loved hearing more stories about Krishna! In this book we get to read about another memory Sita has with Krishna and Yaksha. There’s something in the memories of Krishna that makes me smile when I read them.

I can’t say enough good about this series! But with the good, there is one big sad part…I’m not ready to say goodbye to Sita 😢

Admittedly, I went online and googled to find out what comes next for my favorite hero. I came across a recent post by Christopher Pike that says he has books 6 and 7 planned. I want them now!! Haha.

I hope he doesn’t wait too long to write them. I want to read the conclusion of Sita’s story!! I hope you give this series a try! Happy reading y’all!

Book Review: Thirst 4 The Shadow of Death

Thirst No. 4: The Shadow of DeathThirst No. 4: The Shadow of Death by Christopher Pike
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

We all a need Sita In Our Lives

Sita is the being who watches over all of humanity and ensures good will always win. She banishes evil and lets good flourish. If I didn’t love her before this book, I definitely would now.

I really liked how Sita became Teri. I felt that being a newborn helped to remind her of where she came from and where she needed to be. I liked even more when she realized who Umara was and found her missing body.

I know there’s another book and I’m looking forward to it. I will definitely be mourning the loss of Sita at the end of this series. Part of me really hopes someone like her is out there keeping this world safe.

If you haven’t yet, please give this series a try. Even if you don’t like vampires, you might like this. Although this book extends more into the sci-fi world than most of the other books, so I think have have to have an open mind to sci-fi type books to like it. Happy reading y’all!!

Book Review: Thirst 3 The Eternal Dawn

Thirst No. 3: The Eternal DawnThirst No. 3: The Eternal Dawn by Christopher Pike
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What the??

What the what?! I’m not sure about this book, but let’s discuss and maybe I’ll decide by the end of this.

There are some spoilers here, but nothing too significant. This might even be in the blurb, but I don’t read those, because I won’t read a book most times if I do. I know, I’m odd.

Anyhow, the final book in Thirst 2 was the last book in the original series. Sita goes back in time to change history and in the final scene, she decides to go all the way back to the day Yaksha was born and kill him before he can be born and she never becomes a vampire. Then we also have a scene with Seymour closing the book as if he was authoring the story the entire time and none of it happened to begin with.

Due to that ending, I was really curious how book 3 even happened. Something must have majorly changed. So, I was expecting a rewrite of sorts on the history. I wasn’t quite expecting this though.

The biggest change is probably with Seymour. In the beginning of book 3, we find out that Sita never met Seymour. Never cured him of his AIDS, but Seymour got on a drug cocktail that did extend his life and he did write the book about Sita. They are psychically linked.

Ray, Joel, Paula, Eddie, Arturo, Kalika, Yaksha, all their stories still happened mostly the way they were originally written. Except that if you’ll remember, Sita used John’s blood to bring Seymour back from the dead, but that didn’t happen in this version. I think something was mentioned about Sita using the blood on herself.

Christopher Pike does explain pretty much every change eventually, but it’s not right away. This makes it confusing if you recently read Book 2 and you’re wondering what the heck is going on?!? Try to get past that and take this book as it is. It’s really well done, action packed, and impossible to put down at times.

I’m looking forward to reading book 4! It’s nice to be reading more Sita stories. Even if they newest villains are a little odd, they’re also incredibly interesting. Give this series a try!! Happy reading y’all!! There's a link below if you want to see or order Thirst 3!

Book Review: Thirst 2

Thirst No. 2: Phantom, Evil Thirst, and Creatures of Forever (Thirst, #2)Thirst No. 2: Phantom, Evil Thirst, and Creatures of Forever by Christopher Pike
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As good as the first!

Thirst 2 is the last three books in the original last vampire series.

If I tell you anything about these, it will give them away. So, I won’t tell you about the plots. I’ll give you a hint...it involves Sita, the last vampire, and beings who want her blood and/or want her dead. Haha...that also described the first book. Yet somehow it’s not repetitive or dull to me. Quite the opposite! Try putting them down and it feels like Sita is compelling you to keep going.

I was surprised that I didn’t notice any change between this and the original series. I expected a different ending in order for the series to continue. Yet there wasn’t one. It still ends with Seymour and his computer. This makes me even more curious about the next books!!

Read this series y’all! See why Sita grabs your heart and not in that vampiry I’m going to eat it way 😉 See why when someone says “I don’t want to die,” you will always secretly respond with “then you never should have been born.” And why you suddenly find yourself googling "Krishna" and Bhagavad Gita. Happy reading y’all! Below is a link for you to read more about Thirst 2 and purchase if you so desire.

Book Review: Thirst 1

Thirst No. 1: The Last Vampire, Black Blood, and Red Dice (Thirst, #1)Thirst No. 1: The Last Vampire, Black Blood, and Red Dice by Christopher Pike
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Best Vampire Series

I have loved this series since I was a kid and first read it. I re-read it every few years. It is that good!

Thirst's main lead is Sita, who believes she’s the last vampire, but discovers she isn’t. She needs to stay alive and out of danger as foes (new and old) try to take her down.

This is my first time reading this electronically as “Thirst,” instead of the original series as paperback. It didn’t disappoint. I’m super excited to continue reading the series!!

For those of you not familiar with Christopher Pike books, this is a young adult book, so there isn't any sex scenes, but sex is mentioned, which use to make teenage me feel like I was reading something scandalous. Haha. Adult me would love to see this turned into an adult series, but I still love it how it is.

For any vampire book readers, this is a must-read series! There is so much action, adventure, history, and mythology in this book, it's hard to put it down!

These aren't the shiny/sparkly vampires of Twilight and that's okay. If you've read some of my past reviews, you'll know I'm a huge Twilight fan too, but this book and this author started my love of vampires. Sita has classic strength, speed, and most of all, heart. Plus, we see her acquire new skills. It's neat to know that even a 5,000 year old vampire can learn and grow. Don't get me wrong though, she often still sounds like the 19 year old she was when she was changed.

I hope you give this series a try or give it to a tween/teen you know. It deserves to keep coming around for many generations. I've included a link to it on Amazon. Happy reading y’all!!

Book Review: Born in Fire

Born in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #1)Born in Fire by K.F. Breene
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m pumped to read more!

This is the first book in the series, so we spend quite a bit of time meeting the characters.

There’s our mystery female lead, Reagan. We find out that she’s a bounty hunter who doesn’t want people to find out her lineage, because if her Dad finds out about her, then life will become difficult.

Next is the handsome, vampire male lead, Darius. Yummy! Strong, fast, sexy, and has manners to die for! Yes! These two team up to take on a mystery person who is trying to amass an army to take over and gain power.

In short, we have a fun little plot and good characters. We throw in good mages Dizzy and Callie for kicks and giggles and this is an enjoyable first book in the series.

I’m excited to read the next. I enjoy the swears this author uses. They’re creative and funny. I hope you give this a try. Happy reading y’all!!
