HMM Review: Christmas Bedtime Stories

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Where did the magic come from?! I didn’t know this movie had a bit of Christmas magic! I thought it was just a Mom reading her daughter bedtime stories. I’m so glad it was much more than that! Here’s a quick recap and my two cents 😉

Quick Recap

Danielle’s marine husband, Colby, died while deployed. They never found his body. Danielle and her daughter moved on with their lives. Eventually Danielle’s daughter starts asking questions about her father. Danielle tells her stories about her father at bedtime and the stories start coming true. At the same time, Danielle accepts her boyfriend’s proposal and begins to question if there’s a higher reason for these miracles and if Colby could still be alive.

My Two Cents

Why is it always the movies I’m not looking forward to that keep me captivated from the first moment?! This was a bracket movie that I wouldn’t have watched if it wasn’t in my Hallmark Christmas Movie Bracket, because I usually don’t seek out military movies. They usually make me cry.

This one wasn’t any different. I found myself on the edge of tears every ten minutes. It’s so hard watching a movie where the husband dies and leaves behind a wife and child. Especially when the child is young and doesn’t remember her Dad.

But this movie is magic. I loved how Danielle’s stories kept coming real. Running into old friends, finding missing ornaments, freak snow storms, and more. I LOVE movies with this kind of magic! Somehow, it kept it just light enough that I didn’t cry the entire time.

But I wanted to cry every time I saw Danielle hurt poor Pierce’s feelings. I wondered how long he would last before he ended things with her or she finally figured out what she really wanted and stopped hurting him. I was glad when things worked out the way they did.

**SPOILER ALERT**

I almost died the last 5 minutes of the movie. Have your tissues ready! Colby’s reappearance gives the perfect Hallmark movie ending, but dang did it hit me right in the feels. I really really wanted this ending and I’m so happy Hallmark ended it this way! Is it realistic? Absolutely not, but that’s not why I watch Hallmark. I watch it to see the happily ever after that doesn’t always happen in the real world.

**END OF SPOILERS**

Hallmark Movies and Mysteries movies always hits me right in the feels. I swear I wind up ugly crying on 75% of these movies. I’m super glad I watched this movie tonight. Military movies are always hard for me to watch, but this was definitely worth it! Give it a try!

Hallmark Movie Review: A Mrs. Miracle Christmas

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m a huge fan of the prior two Mrs. Miracle movies with Doris Roberts (Call Me Mrs. Miracle and Mrs. Miracle). I love Caroline Rhea, but I was a little worried about her being Mrs. Miracle. It turns out I didn’t need to be worried – she was a natural! Here’s a quick re-cap and my full two cents 😉

Quick Re-Cap

Laurel and Will had trouble conceiving a baby, so they became foster parents. Unfortunately, right before the adoption finalized, the mother decided against the adoption. It’s been a year, but they still haven’t recovered.

This year, Nana took a fall and hurt her wrist. She’s been a little down this year and Laurel wants to find someone to stay with her while she’s busy with holiday festivities. Mrs. Miracle appears to help the family in ways they never knew were possible.

My Two Cents

I love this type of magic!! I feel like it appeals to anyone with hope. It might not really be magic, because it could just all be a series of coincidences, but if you believe magic and angels are possible, then it could be more than coincidences.

I loved the story of Mrs. Miracle having a daughter named Mercy, then a Mercy appears in the jewelry store and she was the receptionist for the temp agency. And lets not forget about the choir at the end of the movie.

The feels were real tonight everyone!! I must be extra emotional, because I liked when Laurel’s Dad met her for lunch and apologized for not being there for her. The closure in their relationship felt real and wonderful. Then the darn angel made me cry, but it was only the first tears for me.

The ending was full of happy tears! There’s nothing everyone loves more than a happy ending and this was the happiest ending possible for everyone.

This movie has all the hope, magic, and love of the previous movies. It definitely is making my must watch list this Countdown to Christmas season. I hope you watch it too. Happy movie watching y’all!

Hallmark Movie Review: Baby, it’s Cold Inside

Image via: https://www.hallmarkchannel.com/baby-its-cold-inside

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

Oh Hallmark! You cunning puppeteer! It’s been a while since I’ve seen two women go after the same man on a Hallmark movie. The previews didn’t give away this plot twist. Here’s a quick movie re-cap and my two cents 🙂

Movie Re-cap

Hannah is an accident prone travel agent who is sent to an ice hotel to see if it should be recommended for winter getaways. While in the hotel, Hannah meets Ben (the owner/creator) of the ice hotel. Throw in a jealous employee, a secret hotel reviewer, and the promise of a job promotion to lure Hannah away and we have a complete Hallmark movie.

My Two Cents

So…I’m half and half on this movie. There are a lot of cute parts (mostly due to Hannah’s clumsiness), but there were a few head-scratching moments too.

The very opening scene in the movie kinda irked me. Hannah is scheduled to go on a cruise with her best friend, Phoebe, and family. Her boss tells her to cancel so she can go on the trip to the ice hotel instead. Her boss also insinuates that if she doesn’t go, then she may not be eligible for the upcoming promotion.

I wouldn’t want to work for a company that treated me like that. If I’ve worked hard enough to be considered for the promotion, then this one trip shouldn’t make a difference when I have a planned trip with my family. Why was Hannah so willing to give up her trip with her family? Stick up for yourself Hannah!

It worked out for her in the end, but it bothered me that she allowed herself to be pressured into dropping her family and friend to go onto the trip her boss requested.

Moving past this, I enjoyed some parts about this movie. There was so much art and nature! The ice hotel itself was gorgeous! The rooms were decorated with beautiful designs and sculptures. There was a walking path with lights, northern lights, and they incorporated glass blowing. GLASS BLOWING! I love glass blowing!

Despite everything I enjoyed about this movie, it was just okay. I like strong female leads and more humor. I felt Hannah’s lack of self-confidence was a turn-off and the movie wasn’t quite funny enough to be a serious romcom. Give it a try if you’re bored, but I wouldn’t seek this one out. Happy movie watching y’all!

Movie Review: Unlocking Christmas

Rating:
2.5/5

Oh man! I really wanted to like this movie! I just couldn’t get into it. I gave it the 3 strikes and you’re out try, which makes me sad, because there are some cute moments in it. They just never built into anything better than a few cute moments.

Kate and Kevin meet because Kevin’s mom makes him go to the doctor about his leg. This scene was actually very cute and I’m pretty sure Kevin’s mom purposefully sent him to see Kate. She’s quite the meddlesome woman 😉

Shortly after meeting, Kate and Kevin are each sent a clue and key. They figure out the clue’s meaning, arrive at the same place at the same time, and wind up on a scavenger hunt of sorts. Through the process they learn more about each other and start falling in love.

I figured out who was behind the keys almost immediately and the clue tasks didn’t really keep me interested. Also, Steve Lund’s long hair was really distracting. I didn’t feel like it fit with his former military life, because it always looked messy and greasy-ish.

If you give it a try, let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy it more than I did. If you’re looking for another scavenger hunt type movie, I think Christmas Scavenger Hunt was a lot better. Happy movie watching y’all!
