Hallmark Movie Review: Pumpkin Everything

Second chance romances are one of my favorite tropes! Unfortunately, this one didn’t quite provoke the feelings they normally do for me. Here is a quick recap and my two cents 😉

Quick Recap

Amy returns to her childhood home to tend to her Grandfather who had a car accident. She runs into her childhood sweetheart and discovers her Grandfather isn’t doing well living alone.

My Two Cents

I debated for a long time what score to give this movie. I settled on 3.5, but I always give the benefit to the movie. So, 4 it is. BUT I’m giving this movie a big disclaimer…aside from the first 5ish minutes, the next 55 are rough. If you get past the first hour, the second hour is pretty good and the ending is great.

Jeff gave up around the hour mark. He couldn’t take it anymore. I stayed with it, because I felt it might be picking up again and I was right! However, I would argue this movie is more about the relationship between Amy and her Grandfather, Tom, than Amy and her former boyfriend, Kit.

From the beginning Amy and Kit seemed to get along great. So well, it was kind of boring. This was why the first 55ish minutes were blah. Amy and Kit seemed to be picking up right where they left off in their relationship, except that Amy kept blaming herself for their relationship ending and abandoning Kit. I liked when they finally talked through their history and made amends with the past.

I loved the part when Amy took Tom to the retirement community and introduced him to the lady DJ who had a job available for him. Plus, she showed him all the wonderful things about living in that community. Not gonna lie, I hope I can afford a place like that someday! It sounds like a lot of fun!

Moving on past Amy, Kit, and Tom…Was I the only person wondering if the display outside stays outside 24/7? What happens when it rains? I know it’s kind of random, but I was really curious. It was a beautiful display, but it would have been a really big pain to take down and put back out each day.

I also noticed all the Hey Good Day references. A few weeks ago was Wedding of a Lifetime. They appeared on Hey Good Day too! Has this been around forever and I’m just now realizing it?

Anyhow, this was an okay movie. It isn’t one I’ll seek out to watch again, but I won’t automatically flip if it comes on again. I was super excited that Love on the Sidelines came on directly after it. LOVE THAT MOVIE! Seriously, Top 10 Hallmark movies.

Hallmark Movie Review: One Perfect Wedding

Rating: ⭐⭐

Jack turner is bald and totally rocking it! That (plus the peak of his abs) are the best parts of the movie. I’m sure there will be a lot of people who like this movie a lot, unfortunately, I’m not one of them.

I’m not sure what it is about this series, but I haven’t been able to get into any of them. On Friday, Hallmark played One Winter Weekend and One Winter Proposal and I tried, but couldn’t watch either.

Now I’m sitting here trying to watch One Perfect Wedding and I can’t concentrate on it. Ben is too secretive and Cara is too suspicious of everything he does. I don’t feel like a relationship would work with these two long term. They don’t seem like they’re in sync with each other.

There were a few things I liked. I really enjoyed the Bride vs Groom game. I love games like that! Plus, I really liked the Max and Clara sideline story. It was super sweet and cute. These few things saved this movie from a 1 star review.

What did you all think of this movie? Did you like it?

Feel free to give this movie a try. Personally, I would skip it. Look back through some of my past reviews to find some 5 star movie reviews. Chasing Waterfalls, It was Always You, or Taking a Shot at Love were three more recent ones I really enjoyed.

Movie Review: Unlocking Christmas

Rating:
2.5/5

Oh man! I really wanted to like this movie! I just couldn’t get into it. I gave it the 3 strikes and you’re out try, which makes me sad, because there are some cute moments in it. They just never built into anything better than a few cute moments.

Kate and Kevin meet because Kevin’s mom makes him go to the doctor about his leg. This scene was actually very cute and I’m pretty sure Kevin’s mom purposefully sent him to see Kate. She’s quite the meddlesome woman 😉

Shortly after meeting, Kate and Kevin are each sent a clue and key. They figure out the clue’s meaning, arrive at the same place at the same time, and wind up on a scavenger hunt of sorts. Through the process they learn more about each other and start falling in love.

I figured out who was behind the keys almost immediately and the clue tasks didn’t really keep me interested. Also, Steve Lund’s long hair was really distracting. I didn’t feel like it fit with his former military life, because it always looked messy and greasy-ish.

If you give it a try, let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy it more than I did. If you’re looking for another scavenger hunt type movie, I think Christmas Scavenger Hunt was a lot better. Happy movie watching y’all!
